Makiling: The Lady in the Mountain

In 2010, Kawayan Folk Arts, a local Filipino performing arts company, presented its 4th theatrical production. The show brought the mythology of the mountain goddess Maria Makiling to life through traditional Filipino dance and music. For its main graphic, I aimed to capture Makiling’s three suitors in this telling of the legend through patterns seamlessly weaved through her hair.
